Why Join Us
At LAB, we're not just processing transactions—we're empowering business owners to feel confident about their financials with clarity, control, and peace of mind. That mission flows through everything we do, including how we build our team.
Become an expert. We run a modern bookkeeping practice built on systems and technology. You'll learn the right way to do things, not just how "it's always been done". At many businesses, you'd be "the bookkeeper"—but you'd also be answering phones, helping with HR & IT questions, and getting pulled into whatever else needs doing. At LAB, you focus on bookkeeping excellence. You learn best practices, modern systems, and develop real depth. That expertise makes you more valuable in the long run.
Make a real difference. Our clients tell us they feel like they've gained a team member by working with LAB, not just outsourcing a task. That's because we treat bookkeeping as a strategic service that helps business owners actually understand and manage their finances. You'll be part of making that happen and you'll see the impact—cleaner books, faster client turnarounds, happier business owners.
Be part of a supportive culture. We believe in clear communication, organizational excellence, and treating people—both clients and team—with genuine care. You'll be part of a collaborative team of bookkeepers serving the Brainerd Lakes Area community. Working as "the bookkeeper" at a local company has its challenges when you're supposed to be the expert and you have no one to ask when you're stuck. At LAB, you're part of a team of bookkeeping experts. You see how others solve problems, share knowledge, and grow together.
Own your development. We invest in team members who want to learn and develop. Whether you're new to bookkeeping or expanding your skill set, we're patient with training and committed to helping you build real expertise. Rather than working as "the bookkeeper" at one company, you'll be working with different businesses which exposes you to varied challenges, different industry requirements, and diverse financial scenarios.
Grow with us. We're actively expanding, and this part-time role is the foundation of that growth. As we scale, there's genuine opportunity to transition into a full-time position. And if you develop expertise and demonstrate leadership, we see supervisory roles in our future. We're building a team, not just filling positions—we want people who can grow with us.
Flexibility that works. Part-time work that respects your schedule, meaningful contribution, and the kind of professional environment where your effort is genuinely appreciated.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate: $25–$30/hour, based on experience and skill level
Current Benefits: As a growing firm, we currently offer:
Flexible part-time scheduling
Access to our client portal and systems training
Professional development opportunities
A supportive, collaborative work environment
Benefits as We Grow: We're committed to investing in our team as we scale. As Lakes Area Bookkeeping expands, we plan to introduce retirement benefits (401(k) and similar accounts), health insurance options, and additional perks. Team members who grow with us will be among the first to benefit from these additions.
We believe in being transparent about where we are today while building toward the kind of firm where comprehensive benefits are standard. If you're someone who values being part of a growing organization and building something together, this role offers real upside.
